The Interrupting Cat

How was your Fourth of July?  Patriotic, I hope.  I tried to get a lot of quilting and crafting done while at the same time continually spraying myself with self-tanning mist to approximate a healthy, outdoorsy glow.  But ... I kept getting interrupted.  You'll see!

First, I was able to finish all of the 1/2-and-1/2 squares for Henry's quilt.  I decided that I would piece them together in a chevron pattern like so:

So I started laying out the squares on the floor to see if it would work.  And it was looking pretty good!  I even figured out how to make sure the "directional" prints (like the pennants or the stripes) all come out in the same direction.  Then this happened:

Ugghhhgghhhh.  Time to give up!
